The Unbearable Cuteness of Atheists

All across the planet, there is nothing cuter than an atheist. We are the most adorable creatures that walk, crawl, slither, fly or swim on this earth. Loving, curious and playful, there is nothing that compares.

Think of all our distant and close relatives wandering the world; all atheists from the time they are born until the time they are dead. Living in a world of reality. Interacting with all life, they never consider heaven or earth.

Too smart for the fantasy, they know better than us.

Walt Whitman said it best:

"I think I could turn and live with the animals, they're so placid and self contained, I stand and look at them and long. They do not sweat and whine about their condition. They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins. They do not make me sick discussing their duty to god, not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things, not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago, not one is respectable or unhappy over the earth."

Whether tamed or wild, atheists rock. For your perusal, the unarguable and unbearable cuteness of atheists.

Cool little guys that will probably kick your ass when they get older, but not because they disagree with your religion, or lack of it. They will not premeditate messing with you, but if you get in their way; deal with it. Actually they are understandable, and the more knowledge you collect on habits and dangers, the safer you are.

We have billions of atheists on this planet. More numbers than any religion can claim.

Just think about the unwolfable cuteness of wolf pups, or the unrabbitable cuteness of bunnies, or all the other bad word games that I could play. I'll stop, but still, atheists will give you a cuteness overload.

Yeah, bunnies and ducklings, do they look dangerous? For being atheists they should be out raping and killing, but of course in their world, their actions are normal. It is not a sin for them to live, only for theists. As far as I can tell, atheism is the world.

Only a very small percentage of life reveres fairy tales from antiquity. No matter how well the story is told, in the end it is just a story. Real life embraces reality. Possibly triteness incarnate, but it is a fact.

Atheist cats and dogs, birds and fish, snakes and all manner of reptiles. Crawling beetles, marching ants; yep, all atheists.

I like being part of this family. It is the world in its innate form.

What could be better than this? Instead of wasting time with wishful thinking about everlasting life, we have our senses and evolutionary motivations to live. Life is eternal, what else can one know?

Instead of worrying about offending invisible asshats, we revel in the workings of nature. We explore and discover. We give love to beings that deserve it, and those beings are part of our world. And even though we can love life that doesn't love back, we love that reality. Why waste emotional feelings on nothing?

We are, as the rest of nature is, reasonable in our atheism. We are beautiful and we are kind, we are ugly and we are cruel; and we are real.

Perfect.

Meaning

I am always bewildered by a theist's desire for ultimate meaning. I know the topic surfaces with every atheist, and every atheist tries to explain the thought in a manner that would satisfy other atheists.

I think that question is personal, and can only be answered by the individual. I think the simplest reason for the search for meaning comes from those who have personal tragedies looking for the good in that tragedy. That would be a theist. A hundred plus people die in recent tornadoes; yet a child may be saved, a relic of a destroyed home found intact; a theist would say it's a plan and has meaning.

Bullshit.

Pretty lame plan in my mind. Shit happens, get over it. If meaning is a construct of those who are believers, do atheists need concern themselves with the discussion?

For most of us, I think meaning ends up often being pleasure. That pleasure might be a simplistic as reading a book or watching a sunset; not sure if that devolves into meaning, or life.

Does meaning have anything to do with anything except personal experience?

I don't think there is meaning for me in the fact that someone accomplishes some deed, even if amazing because of said person's background. It is life. I don't feel meaning in my life to be as important as self worth or pleasure, and even self worth could be thrown off the cliff as well, it is really just another form of pleasure.

I guess I am struggling with the thought of meaning. Yes, there could be meaning in relationships and experience, there could be meaning in someone's accomplishments that may help others; or it could be a useless word that cloaks personal pleasure.

Some would think that pleasure in itself is not a goal, but meaning is. I think pleasure is the meaning.

Kant said, Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing admiration and awe, the oftener and more steadily we reflect on them: the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me.

Is awe and hope, or pleasure and experience, all there is to the word?

F*ck Respect

Every so often some tree hugging l*beral stands on a soapbox and states how we should treat all people with respect; even those canine b*ll-licking theists. What the h*ll is up with that?

Little d*ckless pig-f*cking bastards have their heads stuck so far up their collective *sses that only a proctologist could find them.

Why should I show these cr*tins any respect? Waste of my time, day in day out, talking to creatures less intelligent than the local pot bellied p*g. G*d is great, yeah right, and the holocaust was just f*cking awesome. Pimpled *ss little b*stards spouting the destruction of a world from their leather bound S & M mistress; take these orders you stupid p*ke.

Willfully ignoring life's beauty, because the only f*cking thing they are concerned with is death. Yeah death, that's it for the pompous big*ts that infest this earth. Pin headed pr*cks without one redeeming feature; unless procreating with these animals is a plus. Actually, it's a good thing there are so many human animals, the sheep get a free ride. (Unless it's a southern chr*stian c*nservative, then all bets are off).

What mind bending reason is there to not go to your local church on sunday and p*ss on its walls, they've been p*ssing on mankind for generations. Just because they haven't stoned anyone lately we should give the intellectually impaired a free ride? B*llshit, smack the b*tches whenever you get a chance, the only way to keep their smarmy *sses in line.

You want to be an accommodationist? What the h*ll is wrong with you? What respect can be given to that which destroys the earth while raping it for all the profits it can grab. Tax the institutions, parody the pre*chers, be loud and proud. Talk about what a disease the ch*rch is. Its warped sh*t for brains minds that hold society in rusty barbaric shackles. F*ck them.

Have a nice f*cking day.

Thanks to Michel for turning another one of my useless rants into a much more amusing blog with his excellent editing. =)

Is Rational Thought a Bias?

Well, no. Rational thought is what everyone ought to partake in. Reason is a drink that instead of weakening cognitive processes like alcohol, promotes clarity of thought.

Is that the same to a theist?

No, it is not. Theists maintain their beliefs by repeating this mantra over and over. Smart people suck. It's just that easy! Smart people take away from supernatural imagination, from fictional thoughts of joy.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as saying they think smart people suck at all times, just when it suits their needs. There is a continual pattern of denial theists display when taken to task. Usually it comes in the form of dismissal. Say what you want, but when a theist sees the road of reason ahead, he backs out. He has to. It is the fear of being led astray.

Yet, a theist could make the claim that you are biased. You are biased because of your lack of faith. If you had faith, you would not question certain parts of life. The answers are there, written in their favorite book.

At this and many other life happenings, atheists really do hold the high ground. The tables turn. The theist is the person of bias. He is the one that will not, or cannot, open his mind to the world that he lives in. The bias is centuries old and has been instilled with pain and suffering.

There are times when I think this is the only problem; no matter how many different ways you may state the thought, the bias is the problem. The bible is never very fair when it comes to unbelievers, in fact all writers despise those who lack faith.

I would think that if you could get the imagination, the wonder, the joy of discovery that you may feel when a new idea plants itself in your world, that bias can be changed.

The religious can of course be in awe of the universe, but most only in a superstitious manner. There's always the exception, but your run of the mill theist just doesn't look at the reasoned world in wonder, he saves that awe for ideas that have no base in reality.

I think it's as simple as this. If you can express a scientific or reasoned thought with the same intensity that a priest or pastor can whip up, you will get their attention. If, by inflection and purpose and intensity you can explain a simple scientific thought and excite someone's imagination of where that thought may lead, you've basically set them on a path that gives them the same wonder that religion's slight of hand conjuring does.

Go for it.
